An-Najah News - A recent study revealed that the brain re-activates the memories a person goes through daily at bedtime, in order to rearrange and merge them.

According to the study published by the American newspaper Newsweek the researchers made their observation clear of the process of the brain restarting the nerves that were operating hours before the sleep of the participants in the experiment.

“At the neuroscience level, it is believed that “restarting” in offline and sleep mode is the basis for incorporating memory,” said researcher Beata Jarushevich.

She pointed out that the team of researchers resorted to implanting electrodes in the cortex of the primary movement and the middle frontal gyrus from the brain for the study participants.

The team asked the participants to play a simple video game that includes color boards illuminating in different sequences, which they then have to repeat.

Instead of using a handheld console, they played the game using their brains, while the researchers were recording the neural activity that was occurring in the brain while they were playing.

Then, the participants were asked to relax, close their eyes and sleep if they wanted, and the researchers noted during this period that the brain reactivated the nerves that participated in the game before bed.

The researchers emphasized that the primary goal of this experiment was to try to treat people with an inability to control their bodies, but coincidence has led them to discover a new function of the brain.
