An-Najah News - President Mahmoud Abbas discussed yesterday the latest developments in the region, on top of which is Israel's plan to illegally annex portions of the occupied West Bank to its sovereignty with his Turkish President Recep Tayyib Erdogan

The President expressed his thanks to the Turkish support of the Palestinian people and their rights, as well as its rejection of the Israeli occupation annexation plan which violates international law.

President Abbas also briefed Erdogan of the efforts of the Palestinian leadership and the talks it has held with many countries to thwart the Israeli annexation plan, which, if implemented, would kill any chance of peace and drag the entire region into the cycle of violence.

He further briefed the Turkish leader of the efforts to achieve national unity an reconciliation between the two main Palestinian factions, Fatah and Hamas, in order to consolidate the national position in the face of the Israeli annexation plan.

On the other side, the Turkish President affirmed his country's firm support of the Palestinian people and their right to freedom, independence and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on its national soil.

Erdogan stressed the importance of bolstering international efforts aimed at thwarting the Israeli annexation plan which violates international legitimacy, stressing that Turkey will continue its efforts in this field. And also the importance of the Palestinian unity talks taking place between the Fatah and Hamas movements in order to achieve full reconciliation and unify positions to confront the Israeli occupation.
