An-Najah News - The British newspaper “The Sun” said that the German-born Turkish star, Masoud Ozil, Arsenal football player, donated 80 thousand pounds to the Turkish Red Crescent.

The newspaper pointed out that Ozil donated to support the provision of aid and breakfasts to 16 thousand Muslim people in Turkey and Syria, during the month of Ramadan, which began on 23rd of April.

The newspaper also noted that Ozil, who is of Turkish descent, has been secretly donating for years, to help 1,000 children and feed 100,000 homeless people.

Ozil's move comes a few days after he came under harsh criticism, for refusing to cut his salary with Arsenal, who is suffering financially after the English Premier League pauses due to the outbreak of the Coruna virus.

Ozil has become one of the highest-paid Arsenal players, since he moved in 2013 from Real Madrid, for 42.5 million pounds.
