An-Najah News -  A US court convicted, Cop Derek Chauvin, for the murder of a black American citizen, George Floyd, in a case that shook the United States for a year, and showed deep racial divisions in American society, while the US President, Joe Biden, called Floyd’s family to confirm his satisfaction with the verdict.

The ethnically mixed jury of seven women and five men in Minneapolis needed less than two days after the three-week trial hearings to reach a unanimous decision that the white policeman is guilty of the three charges against him.

Chauvin, 45, is expected to spend many years behind bars in the murder case of Floyd, which sparked violent protests against racial injustice around the world and was seen as a historic test of police accountability.

Meanwhile, Biden told Floyd’s family through a phone call that he was "satisfied" after a jury found the former policeman guilty of the case.
